Overview

Asahidake Ski Resort is located on Hokkaido's highest mountain and consists of a single ropeway, two carriage service the route that takes you to 1600 meters, the mountain rises above to almost 2300 meters. From the top of the ropeway station you can access side country or with some hiking open up some other great runs.

We recommend that you take a guide plus avalanche gear for the ultimate powder experience.

The resort has 4 courses for the intermediate skier that wants to stay on trail, from these trails side country can be accessed and trails lead back to the base station where you can do it all again.

Asahidake is a no frills ski areas with very limited services and facilities. Shopping and dining options are limited to the ropeway station at the base of the ski area and the few hotels nearby. There is a small visitors centre which is open during winter, however its main purpose is to service the many summer tourists who visit the area for hiking. There is one cafeteria upstairs in the Asahidake ropeway building with typical vending machine fast-food Japanese dishes such as Ramen and Curry.
